We bring Lectura Sintetizada, a structured, science-based literacy program built for beginning readers and children with reading disabilities like dyslexia, into classrooms across the Dominican Republic — with Panama and the rest of Latin America next.
The Problem
Too many kids are passed from grade to grade without ever learning to read.
Across Latin America, children who struggle with reading — including those with dyslexia and other learning differences — are too often left behind by curricula that were never built for them. Many drop out. Many adults never fully learn to read at all.
Founder Francia Brisita spent 20 years as a bilingual educator and curriculum developer in Texas classrooms before returning to the region she calls home to do something about it.
Our Program
Lectura Sintetizada: a structured literacy program in Spanish, built on the science of reading.
Lectura Sintetizada is a structured, systematic, and multisensory literacy curriculum designed specifically for the Spanish alphabetic code — grounded in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. It's built to reach every learner, including children with reading disabilities like dyslexia.
We train teachers to deliver it, provide the manuals and student workbooks free of charge, and work directly with students — in partnership with the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Education.

Dominican Republic
Where it all began in 2020. Lectura Sintetizada is now used in schools across the country, in partnership with the national Ministry of Education, with new editions of the manual and student textbook continually refined and expanded.
Panama
Founder Francia Brisita's birthplace, and the next stop on our roadmap as we bring Lectura Sintetizada to Panamanian classrooms.
New York City
Our nonprofit is registered and based in NYC, where we recruit volunteers, host fundraising events, and build partnerships that fuel the work abroad.
